Milk with Rice and Nuts Porridge | Paal Kanji

This Milk Porridge is nothing but Paal sadam recipe oly.But the diffrence is ,i have dry roast the rice with nuts and powdered it to make kanji.My LO Shn(2 yr old) lost weight after her 1 week cold.So my sisy suggested to give her this alternative days.I just started from 29th Oct let me see for 1 mnth and update you the results soon.You can also prepare this for 1 week and use it daily along with milk also.Here the step by step method from Dhivis Pantry.Try and let me know your comments.

Rice with Milk and Nuts Porridge | Milk Kanji

Recipe Cuisine: Indian | Recipe Category: Infant food
Preparation Time:20 mins | Serves: 2

Ingredients



Brown rice /Rice-3 tbsp

Badam-4

Cashew-2

Pista-2

Sugar-1 tbsp or as per need

Milk - 2 cup

Ghee-1 tsp

Method:

    2 add
  1. Fry the rice with some ghee till the color changes to white(avoid puffing).
  2. And dry roast the nuts too.
  3. Allow it to cool down and grind into fine powder.
  4. 2 add
  5. Now mix the powder with milk without any lumps and switch on the stove.
  6. Cook till the rice is cooked and it will start thickening (add water if the kanji is too thick)
  7. Switch off the stove and serve cool.


Notes:

  • This 3 tbsp of rice came for morning and evening.
  • Reduce the quantity as per need.
  • Also can add nuts and dry fruits of your choice.

Home Made Infant | Kids Health Mix Powder

Infant and Kids health mix.I got this health mix recipe from co-sister.As i wanted to make my LO shn to gain her weigth.This is also one of my attempt;). Previously i was giving her manna health mix and some times she like and sometimes not.so this time during my india visit i want prepare something home made and i bought this for her.The millets are the one i like in this health mix,she likes this kanji very much and even it makes me feel that i am giving her something very healthy.Do dry and let me know ur comments. Infant and Kids Health Mix

Ingredients


Roasted Bengal Gram/Potukadalai/Bhuna Chana-250 gm

Peanut/Nilakadalai/MoongPhali-400gm

Little Millet/Saamai/Kutki-400gm

Kodo Millet/Varagu/Kodra-400gm

Foxtail Millet/Thinai/Kangni-400gm

Barnyard Millet/Kuthiraivali/ Jhangora-400gm

Pearl millet/Kambu/Bajra-400gm

Finger Millet/Kelveragu/Ragi/Mandua-400gm

Bamboo rice/Moongil Arisi-400gm

Red rice-400gm

Sago/Javarisi-400gm

Soya-400gm

Wheat/Kodumai-400gm

Corn/Maka solam-400gm

Chick peas/Mooku sundal-400gm

Badam-200gm

Cashew-200gm

Pista-200gm

Elachi-16-18

Chironji seeds/Saraparupu-50gm

Method:

    2 add
  1. Totally 18 ingredients are there in that except roasted gram dal/potukadalai we need to dry roast all.
  2. 2 add 2 add
  3. Take a cloth/newspaper and spread it in the floor.
  4. 2 add 2 add
  5. After roasting each ingredient spread it on the cloth and repeat the same.
  6. > 2 add 2 add
  7. Make sure not to burn,for reference see the pics(spoil the taste.
  8. 2 add
  9. And take care not the ingredients should pop like bhel/pori(then it loss nutritional values.).
  10. 2 add
  11. Once u roasted all the ingredient ,then add elachi and roasted gram dal/potukadalai on top.
  12. 2 add
  13. Allow the mixture to cool and grind it on the same day if possible.

Notes:

  • Actually the quantity mentioned here is for 6 kg of health mix.Reduced or increase as per ur need.
  • Chironji seeds/saraparupu is optional but its very good for health.i Didnt add as i forget to buy.
  • Dont add nuts more as it has lot of oil content,it will change the texture .
  • I have used roasted gram dal/potukadalai less bcoz it will make the kanji bland taste.
  • I have not added green gram dal and rice as we are adding it in our daily menu's.
  • Dont add any extra or reduce any ingredients .
  • The kanji was very yummy.

Ragi Kanji | Infant First Solid Food | Ragi Porridge |Baby Food

Infant ragi kanji is the first solid food (6+)usually indians give to their baby.Soaking the ragi for 6 to 8 hours and allowing over night to sprouting to increase the nutrients.And this type of ragi food is very mild and easy to digest for little tummy.  Check out my other Kanji and Infant Recipes:

Preparation Time:10 mins | Serves: 1

Ingredients


Whole ragi-2 tbsp

Water-1 glass

Sugar / Salt (op)

Method:

    2 add
  1. Wash and soak ragi for 6 to 8 hours
  2. Drain the water and put the ragi in white towel & tie it and leave it over night for sprouting.
  3. Next day morning wash it once and grind it nicely with 1/2 th of the water till the water become white.
  4. Then strain the ragi milk seperately ,add more water to take milk out of ragi
  5. 2 add
  6. using double boiler method i.e, Keep a big vessel and fill some water and keep one more medium vessel inside the big one,
  7. Now pour the ragi milk inside the medium vessel and dilute milk as required and switch on the flame.
  8. 2 add
  9. Keep stirring untill the milk become thick kanji

Notes:

  • Dont add too much water
  • Add salt or sugar if required
  • Usually salt is not so good for babies.If using sugar instead of crystalised sugar use palm sugar or brown sugar.
  • If you started vegetable's and fruits to your baby ,you can add the vegetable or fruit puree to the cooled ragi kanji and serve.
