This Moong Dal is a classic version for Rice and chapathi .I got this recipe from MOM as most of the time my mom make dal.I make this very often as Vnd and Shn like this very much.I usually make it less spicy as Shn hate spicy food

Ingredients
Moong dal-1/2 cup
Small onion-7 to 8
Tomato-1 (medium)
Curry leaves-few
Coriander leaves-few
Red chilli-1(o.p)
Garlic-5 pods
Turmeric-1/4 tsp
Sambar pwdr-1tbsp
Cumin-1tbsp
Hing-a pinch
Ghee-1tbsp
oil-1tbsp
Mustard
Castor oil-4 drops(o.p)

Sambar pwdr-1tbsp
Cumin-1tbsp

Castor oil-4 drops(o.p)
Method:
- Chop onion,garlic and tomato into finely.n a Pressure cooker add dal and wash it once then add garlic ,turmeric,castor oil(See Notes) and half of the cumin(remaining for tempering) then add enough water and pressure cook it
- Once the dal is done .In a pan add oil then mustard ,once it splutters add the cumin then hing,immediately add onion and curry leaves.
- Once the onion is transulent add tomato and cook till it is mushy.
- Now sambar powder and mix well ,then add the cooked dal and mix it well.
- Let it cook till boiling ,once it started boiling add coriander leaves ,ghee and remove from flame.
Notes:
- Adding Castrol oil removes gas from Dal.
- If your sambar powder is too spicy skip red chilli.
