How to Dry Herbs in the Microwave

How to dry herbs in microwave ?. No need to wait too long to dry herbs at home ,if you have a microwave at home then just 15 mins is enough ,thats its so simple and hazzle free.Here i have given the steps to dry basil leaves,you can do the same with mint leaves | Pudina,Curry leaves | Karuvepillai,Coriander leaves | Kothamalli, Rosemary and much more leaves like this... Homemade Basil Powder

Preparation Time:15 mins | Serves: Yield up-to 1 year

Ingredients


Basil Leaves - 1 small bunch

Paper towel or Kitchen towel - few

Method:

  1. Make sure the leaves are washed and dried well (no water).
  2. Discard all the thick stems,use only the leaves..
  3. 2 add
  4. Now in a microwavable glass or ceramic plate line a paper towel and arrange the leaves in single layers.
  5. Cover the leaves with one more paper towel(this paper towel helps to absorb the moisture from the leaves and make the leaves dry.

  7. Now microwave for 1 min in high mode.
  8. Repeat the same for all the leaves .You can reuse the same paper towel till its so damp and soggy or if there any burnt spots.
  9. 2 add
  10. The dried leaves will loose its crispness in few seconds.so after finishing all the batches,reheat all the leaves together with same procedure for 10 to 20 secs.
  11. Now put all the leaves in a blender and grind to a fine powder. Sieve and repeat the process.
  12. Keep in a airtight bottle and refrigerate.

Notes:

  • The microwave watts will vary each oven.so change the timings accordingly.Mine is 800 watts.
  • Here i gave steps for basil leaves ,you can try with any other leaves.
