How to Clean | Cut Crab

  1. If you are using live crab ,then free it for some time or blanch it in hot water to kill the crab.

  3. The male crab has narrow mark and the female have bulged(oval) mark at the back and this is called 'apron'.This difference is to find the eggless crab,Some time the female crab have lot of eggs in it.

  5. Using a sharp knife remove the apron.there will be a hole at the end and using a knife remove the top shell from the crab.
  6. you can throw off the top hard shell.Now remove all the gills and other liquid waste and wash it fully.

  8. You can use the whole cleaned crab for cooking or cut it to half.
  9. If using a big crab then ,crush the legs before cooking(as it will be very hard).


Notes:

  • If your crab is a salt water crab then dont forget to add salt before cooking.(if you dont add salt then it will loose all the saltyness in it).
