Chettinadu Nandu Rasam | Crab Soup

Crab Soup   is a Perfect soup , a good remedy for Cold & Cough and also low in calorie,low in fat and have Omega-3 fatty acids.
I never cooked crab before ,but recently preparing soups often as my LO Shn gets cold often. Seriously it gives nice relief but the worst thing is the very next day she gets body heat also..But its better than cold..;)..You can keep this in fridge for 2 - 3 days.

Chettinadu Crab Soup | Chettinadu Nandu Rasam

Ingredients


Crab - 2 (200 gm)(how to clean crab)

Small Onion -10-12

Tomato -1

Curry Leaves-1 Strand

G& G Paste- 1 tbsp

Turmeric-1/4 tsp

Coriander Leaves- few

Oil-2 tbsp

Salt as per taste

To Grind :


Small onion-4-5

Red chili-2

Pepper | Millagu - 1/2 tsp

Cumin | Zeera-1 tsp

Fennel | Sombu - 1 tsp

Coriander Seeds | Powder- 1 tsp

Method:

  2. 2 add
  3. First grind redchilli,pepper,cumin,fennel,coriander seeds ,then add in the onion + some water and grind into a fine paste.
  4. 2 add
  5. In a pressure cooker add oil and once hot add the mustards,when the mustard splutters add in the onion and cook till transulent.
  6. 2 add
  7. Now add in the G & G paste ,curry leaves and cook for 1 minute.
  8. 2 add
  9. Add the tomato ,turmeric and some salt and cook till the tomato become mushy.
  10. Now add in the ground paste and cook for 2 mins.
  11. 2 add
  12. Its time for crab,add the crab,coriander leaves + some water.Adjust the salt or spiciness and pressure cook for 2 - 3 whistles.
  13. 2 add
  14. Once the pressure is released dilute more water if required and boil it one more time and serve hot as a soup or serve with Rice.

Notes:

  • You can add up to 1/2 kg crab to this recipe.
  • If not Using G&G paste ,add the garlic & ginger while grinding.
  • Increase the spiciness as per your taste.
  • You can store this soup for 2 - 3 days in fridge.
  • As i said above,the very next day my kid got body heat,so if you are not using this as a soup then you can add coconut milk to it,which helps to reduce the body heat.
